Teacher's Showroom
We have the unique advantage of the most extensive Teacher's Showroom containing over 60,000 titles. This enables us to provide the greatest variety of educational titles under one roof in the UK. Although there may be bigger showrooms they contain multiple copy stock and therefore less titles than we hold.
Visitors are always welcome — there is no specific need to book. However, if you intend coming as a party it is advisable to phone us in advance. We often hold INSET sessions and our librarians’ days are becoming increasingly popular, so on those occasions we may need to suggest an alternative date if you are coming as a party or for a large pick.
If you are coming for the day, we can arrange lunch and also collection from Sutton station if needed. See our directions page for how accessible we are from many places around us.
The selection of books in our Showroom is unrivalled, containing a full range of fiction, library books, teaching materials and textbooks in one place. It covers all ages from Nursery to College and we believe you won't find a better range of materials on display anywhere. We aim to hold as complete a representation as we possibly can from as many publishers as possible. This will hopefully include every textbook and teacher’s resource (not every file etc from all schemes) as well as fiction and picture books galore!
In our Showroom you will find:
- over 15,000 fiction titles on our fiction floor
- the full range of textbooks for all your course needs in our non-fiction rooms. These are arranged by subject and key stage
- our big book room containing over 1000 Big Books
- an extensive range of books on CD and tape
- multimedia titles which you can preview before ordering
- a sale room with books half price or even just a £1!
- new titles added as they are published
- publishers' catalogues to take away
- a large range of dual-language and positive cultural image material
- textbooks for newer courses with growing interest, eg Chinese (create link to Chinese)and International Baccalaureate (create link to IB pages)
- displays of books on new curriculum emphases, eg citizenship, phonics, accelerated learning
subject posters for sale - free book/author posters for classroom display
- experienced friendly staff to advise
- late night opening by request
- comfortable seating and work area with coffee and tea available (and chocolate biscuits!)
Our Showroom is open from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday. We will stay open later by arrangement for those who prefer to call in after school — phone or email us to request a later visit.
