The oral tradition of fairy tales means that they are a fantastic genre for storytelling without a text. This Little Book aims to promote storytelling within Foundation Stage settings, requiring children to think imaginatively and encouraging their participation in the process. For each story featured there are ideas for activities that foster active learning and sustained shared thinking. Furthermore, the central themes and moral messages within each story are linked to a Personal, Social and Emotional Development focus, which is directly related to the Practice Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage. This book supports the thematic use of traditional tales (from all over the world) and is intended for practitioners of nursery children but also extends into KS1. Each of the stories featured in the book has a PSED focus but is also linked to the EYFS framework with suggestions for independent follow-up activities. Each activity page includes: * Adult-led and independent activity ideas to follow up the story * PSED focus * Ideas for interactive displays * Related songs, poems and rhymes * A list of additional stories, information books and websites * Relevant links with the EYFS Areas of Learning and Development
