Children’s Book Show Performances – Inspiring Live Events for Schools
The Children’s Book Show brings celebrated authors and illustrators into theatres across the UK, offering primary‐aged pupils an unforgettable encounter with storytelling and creativity. Each performance is a lively, interactive hour where writers share their creative journeys, read from their latest books, and involve the audience with Q&A sessions – designed to boost reading enjoyment and spark writing inspiration.
Highlights from the upcoming Autumn 2025 programme include:
- Katherine Rundell at Blackpool Grand Theatre (Friday 19 Sept), whose thrilling fantasy Impossible Creatures brings dragons, griffins, and mythical adventure to life. Every pupil receives a complimentary copy to keep.
- Michael Rosen at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre (Monday 6 Oct), renowned children’s poet and former Laureate, whose energetic performance features readings and poetry tips. A free copy of Big Book of Bad Things is provided.
- Matt Goodfellow at Bristol Old Vic (Wednesday 8 Oct), award‐winning poet and former teacher, shares his verse novel The Final Year and encourages children to view poetry as accessible and powerful. Pupils take home a free copy.
These events offer schools the chance to attend with classes and receive free in‐school workshops (for groups of 30+), further deepening engagement with literacy and performance.
School groups are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes early to settle in, and to check venue information on lunch, parking, and risk assessments. Book now – these performances are a powerful way to nurture children’s love of reading and creative expression.
