About Us
One of the UK’s leading specialist suppliers of school and library books.
Who we are
Heath Books is a family run business set up in 1991 by Richard Heath and is now one of the leading specialist school book suppliers in the UK.
We have more than 30 years’ experience sourcing educational books and resources from all over the world for schools and libraries. Our owner Richard has been selling books since 1980!
With the UK’s only comprehensive education showroom displaying 50,000 books, our experienced staff know how to find the right resources for teachers and their students. We are more than happy to advise in person, by phone or by email.
We have a proven track record of providing a fast, knowledgeable, and efficient service. We know and understand the needs of busy teachers and librarians. As independent booksellers, we pride ourselves on being able to give honest, impartial advice to our customers.
“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.” – Kate DiCamillo
What we do
We strive to offer the best customer service in the industry and take the stress out of book buying. If the book is in print, we will find it!
We offer a personal service and can choose books to fit your topic or class for everything from the latest fiction and non-fiction to suit your budgets and advise on the core textbooks available for your courses.
Our aim is to eliminate the need for teachers to spend valuable time dealing with multiple publishers, browsing vast websites, or coping with the paperwork involved in ordering from individual publishers. With us you can consolidate orders and have one delivery with one invoice.
“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” – Stephen King
Our Services
Bulk Discounts
We pass on discounts, based on the prices we pay, to our customers. Schools receive a standard discount in most cases, which increases if you order eight or more copies. Do you have a large order, or want to combine department orders? Get in touch for a bespoke price. If we can get a better discount, so will you.
Book Servicing
Make your books last longer. We provide a wide range of servicing options including plastic jackets, laminating, date and spine labels, barcodes, security tags and AR labels. Do you have a custom stamp? We can do this too! Get in touch with Kate if you have any bespoke requirements at [email protected].
Custom Lists
If you need a tailored list of books for your classes or topics, we have years of experience making them! Tell us what you need, and our expert team will make you a custom list to suit your budget and requirements. This applies to new libraries too.
Free Delivery
We still currently offer free delivery to UK schools with no minimum spend. However, please try to consolidate orders and if you have multiple orders, we will ship them together at the same time if we can. We aim to supply orders within a week, provided the book is in stock at the publisher.
Summer Order Consolidation
Need books for the start of term in September? Get your order in early when stock is more likely to be available. Ideally, place orders before the end of term to ensure delivery ready for the new term. Many customers consolidate their orders into a single delivery in the summer for the new school year and we can often offer increased discounts on these. In most cases, we can accommodate a specific delivery day too. Gather your list of books and send them to us for a quote.
International Schools
We consolidate orders for international schools across the globe. We work with all publishers and ship your orders in one go. Our staff have expert knowledge of the IB and IGCSE curriculums. We can ship direct to you or a UK shipper. Please ask for a quote for all your book needs. We can pack by department, deal with customs requirements and ship by pallet where appropriate.
