National Poetry Day will take place on Thursday 3rd October 2025 and is a nationwide celebration of poetry that inspires people of all ages to enjoy, discover, and share poems. Organised by the Forward Arts Foundation, this year’s theme is “Choice”, inviting young people to explore the power of poetry to express thoughts, emotions, and the freedom to speak up in their own voice.

Teachers can access ready-to-use lesson plans, curated poetry collections, and guidance for running poetry assemblies or school-wide events. Pupils can enjoy discovering poems that resonate with them – and maybe even write and share their own.
