The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Prize – A Prestigious Opportunity for Young Writers

The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Prize is the world’s oldest international schools’ writing competition, run by the Royal Commonwealth Society. Open to all young people aged 18 and under from across the Commonwealth, this annual competition offers students a unique platform to express their ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future through creative writing.

Each year, the competition explores a central theme relevant to the Commonwealth and global citizenship. Entrants can submit essays, short stories, poems, or scripts, and are judged in two age categories: Senior (14–18 years) and Junior (under 14 years).

Winning entries receive global recognition, publication, and invitations to special award events. One overall winner from each category will also travel to London for a week of cultural and educational activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers to encourage literacy, creativity, and global awareness in their students. For more information, including guidelines and deadlines, visit https://www.royalcwsociety.org/essay-competition.
