Join the 2025 Teachers’ Reading Challenge

Calling all teachers, librarians, and trainee educators: deepen your love of children’s literature this summer with this free, self‑directed professional development journey. Organised by The Reading Agency in partnership with The Open University and supported by HarperCollins UK, the Challenge invites school and library staff to explore, engage, and share their passion for contemporary children’s books – no cost, no catch.

Why take part?

  • Discover new titles: browse recommended booklists spanning diverse themes and genres—including poetry, humour, and your own personal picks (the “I Choose 5” badge)
  • Earn badges: select badges like Poetry Power or Laugh Out Loud, and unlock curated reads from educators, publishers and authors
  • Share and learn: log your books, review reads, connect with a community of peers, and access downloadable teaching tools and online events

How it works:

  1. Sign up with a free account.
  2. Set your reading goal.
  3. Read, review, and earn badges.
  4. Reflect on how new books enrich reading-for-pleasure practice.

Open to all education professionals—veteran teachers, librarians, even trainees—this flexible Challenge runs all summer until 31 October 2025.
