The Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award
The Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award (CLiPPA) is the UK’s premier award dedicated to celebrating outstanding poetry published for children. Established by the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE), it underscores the significance of poetry in children’s literature and education. Each year, the award highlights exceptional poetry collections, aiming to inspire a love for poetry among young readers.
An integral component of the CLiPPA is its Shadowing Scheme, which encourages schools to engage with the shortlisted collections. This initiative provides free teaching resources to help educators explore the poetry with their students. Participating schools can submit videos of their pupils performing selected poems, with standout performances showcased at the award ceremony.
