The Firework Maker's Daughter at Polka

Join Lila on an exhilarating adventure at Polka Theatre with The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, a brand-new stage adaptation of Philip Pullman’s award‑winning novella, directed by Lee Lyford. Aimed at ages 6 – 12, the tale follows courageous Lila as she sets out to become a master firework‑maker like her father. When she must journey to the mythical Mount Merapi, face the fearsome Fire‑Fiend, and return in time to save her father’s life through a breath-taking firework display, children are swept into a magical story of bravery, creativity, and self‑belief.

School performances run on selected dates from Wednesday 19 November to Friday 16 January, with tickets from £10 and a fantastic offer: for every 10 tickets purchased, the 11th ticket is free. Each performance lasts approximately 1 hour 20 minutes, including an interval.

Polka also supports accessibility needs with Relaxed, Audio‑Described, Captioned, and BSL‑Interpreted performances – ideal for inclusive school groups. Located at 240 The Broadway, Wimbledon, this production invites classrooms to enrich literacy, art, science, and PSHE curricula through post‑show workshops and discussions.
