The Information Book Award
The Information Book Award, established by the School Library Association (SLA) in 2010, is an annual event that celebrates excellence in non-fiction for young readers in the UK. The award aims to support school libraries and emphasize the importance of high-quality information books in children’s education.
Categories:
The award is divided into three age-specific categories:
- Ages 0-7
- Ages 8-12
- Ages 13-16
In addition to the main awards, there is a Children’s Choice Award, which allows young readers to vote for their favourite books in each category, culminating in an overall winner. This initiative encourages active participation from children and promotes engagement with non-fiction literature.
Now in its fifteenth year, the Information Book Award Longlist of approximately 30 titles will be announced in April 2025. The Shortlist of approximately 10 titles will be announced in June, with the winners being announced in November.
