The Little Rebels Children’s Book Award is a UK-based prize that celebrates radical fiction for children aged 0-12 years. Established by the Alliance of Radical Booksellers in conjunction with Letterbox Library, the award aims to recognize and promote children’s literature that challenges stereotypes, addresses social issues, and advocates for social equality and justice.
The definition of a ‘radical fiction book’ includes stories that:

Are informed by anti-discriminatory, environmental, socialist, anarchist, or feminist concerns.
-
Actively challenge stereotypes and the status quo.
-
Build children’s awareness of social issues.
-
Promote social equality, social justice, and a more peaceful and fairer world.
The 2025 Shortlist was announced in July, and the winner will be announced in October.
