The Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize

The Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize is an annual award established by the Royal Society, the UK’s leading scientific institution, to inspire young readers to explore science through literature. The prize celebrates outstanding science books aimed at children and teenagers under 14, promoting accessible and engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) content.
The shortlist is selected by The Royal Society however the winner is chosen via voting judging panels made up of young people drawn from school, library, and other youth groups around the UK.
The winning book was announced at an award ceremony in Scotland on 11th March 2025.
