The Solstice Prize for Young Writers

The Solstice Prize for Young Writers is an inspiring opportunity for budding authors aged 11 to 17. Organised by Writing East Midlands, this annual competition celebrates original, imaginative writing from young people across the region.

Open to Fiction, Poetry, and Creative Non-Fiction, the prize encourages students to explore their voices and ideas through storytelling. Submissions are judged by professional writers, with winners and shortlisted entrants published in a special anthology and invited to a prestigious celebration event.

This is a fantastic chance for schools to support literacy, creativity, and confidence among pupils. Whether your students are already passionate writers or just discovering their love of words, The Solstice Prize offers a platform for expression and recognition beyond the classroom.
