Fun with Phonetics (Audio CD, Games, Pack of Cards and Vowel & Consonant Charts)
Designed for introducing the concept of the Phonetic symbols and how to use different listening, seeing and speaking games to learn them.
With this material teachers can facilitate such classes effectively with a minimum of ‘teacher talk’.
The new teaching resource for ‘Phonetics’ called ‘Fun with Phonetics’ contains the following:
A: Pack of 44 cards (playing card size) each includes a phonetic symbol incorporated into a picture to aid memory on one side, and the symbol alone on the other side. Also teaching notes to show possible games to help learn the symbols.
B: An audio CD which has 4 sections
1) A careful reading of all the symbols
2) A short story which includes all the symbols
3) A number of tongue twisters to help practice the interesting difficult challenges that some sounds give.
4) A question and answer exercise using the tongue twisters for sound practice.
C: The teacher card to help with the audio CD.
D: Two coloured wall charts one showing the vowels and the other the consonants.
The colours used match those of the card pack.
The charts have the word as normally written plus the phonetic symbols which make up the word. The charts are to assist learning by seeing the symbols regularly in peripheral vision assuming the charts are permanently mounted on the wall in the classroom.
