It tells the story of Tom and Isabel Sherbourne who find an abandoned child and take the child into their home and raise it as their own. Soon, the biological mother is found. Eventually, the story becomes a question of right and wrong because Tom and Isabel must decide whether or not to tell the truth about the child.
